I had been looking for a reasonably priced tablet as a gift for my daughter, but wanted a decent piece of kit that all of the family could use.

After browsing the web and doing some research, I decided that the A1CS Fusion5 reviews were too good to ignore and chose to buy it. As luck would have it my attempt to purchase coincided with the launch of an upgraded version - the Fusion5 Xtra.

I have only had it for a day, but my first impressions are that this is everything that I wanted, and at this price it seems to be great value for money.

Nice big screen that has quality images and is very smooth with its capacitive movement.
Easy to use/navigate
App store pre-loaded
Nice feel & weight with good build quality
16GB storage
2x mini-USB ports and a HDMI port
Dual camera looks good - my daughter will enjoy taking pictures with it.......................

A little disappointing The product arrived very quickly, within about 72 hours. It's fabulous to have a working charger again after the connection broke in my ACER charger. However, the lead is much, much shorter than my original which means that one end constantly pulls out of the power pack, even if I just knock it under my desk with my foot. At the time of writing, this is definitely the best value laptop on the market. It's light, powerful, the battery lasts for ages even running games, and the graphics card is good enough to run all the best titles on the market - albeit at low resolution and texture quality.

When I first unboxed it, I thought that the laptop was a bit flimsy and cheaply built, but I think this was just the adjustment phase from my previous laptop which is a bit bulkier. Some things I don't like about this laptop; the in built speakers have a slight compression on audio - it might be possible to switch this off though, I've not had any success doing so yet. The touchpad is not depressed into the chassis, so you will on occasion, accidentally slide your wrist over it or touch the left/right mouse buttons, which is a bit annoying, but again, the touchpad can probably be disabled if you prefer to use a regular mouse. Also, there is no HDMI output...........

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a great Tablet PC using the Android 3.1 o/s with which many will be familiar. It may not be as slick or as cosmetically attractive o/s system as the Apple iPad, but it works just as well, and sometimes even better. The WiFi connection works very well, as does the 3G (with your appropriate SIM card) Maps work very well and very fast with the built in GPS (and either Wifi or 3G help) The supplied Polaris Office suite is excellent, and you can open and work with Microsoft Office docs spreadsheets, PP files - doc. docs. xl. xls etc Once connected to your Windows PC the Galaxy 10.1 can be browsed with the files for copying and transferring files by drag and drop, or via the Samsung Kies software. There are some excellent Android applications at very reasonable prices which are easy to install either via your PC on the Android Market web page, or directly on the Galaxy Tab itself..................
